Brokerage Disclosure

Last updated: July 28, 2026

Love the Mitten and Key Realty are two different things. This page explains which is which, and how a real estate relationship actually begins.

What Love the Mitten is

Love the Mitten is Melissa Selvig-Mantilla’s information, education, writing, and resource platform. It publishes articles, community guides, and resources for people making decisions about home and for real estate professionals working to do that well.

Love the Mitten is not a real estate brokerage. It does not list property, hold client funds, or provide brokerage services.

Brokerage affiliation

Melissa has been licensed in Michigan since 2016. She is an Associate Broker and Regional Manager with Key Realty and has been affiliated with Key Realty since 2018. Any real estate brokerage services she provides are provided through Key Realty.

How representation begins

Using this website does not create representation. Submitting the contact form does not create an agency relationship. Reading an article, using a guide, or exchanging a few messages does not make anyone a client.

A brokerage relationship begins only through the written agreement and disclosure process used by Key Realty, and only after the appropriate conversation has taken place. Until that step is complete, no brokerage representation is in place.

Property information

Property listings, search tools, and market information referenced from this site may come through Key Realty or through third-party services. Availability, status, pricing, taxes, square footage, and property details change, and information from any source can be out of date or incorrect. Information is deemed reliable but not guaranteed. Verify anything that matters to your decision through the brokerage and through the appropriate professionals, including inspection, title, lending, legal, and tax specialists.

Educational content is not individual advice

Articles, community guides, buyer and seller resources, and general explanations on this site are educational. They describe how things generally work. They do not take the place of individualized brokerage advice about your property, your finances, or your transaction, which depends on facts that only a direct conversation can surface.

Fair housing and equal service

Real estate service is provided without unlawful discrimination, and this site is written with the same intention. The equal housing page describes that commitment and how questions about neighborhoods and communities are handled.

Where real estate questions should go

For a real estate question, use the contact page and choose the option for home, buying, selling, or moving, or reach Melissa directly at melissa@lovethemitten.com or (616) 856-6161. General information about the brokerage is published by Key Realty at explorekeyrealty.com.

Licensing

Melissa holds a Michigan real estate license as an Associate Broker. Her license number is not published on this page and can be provided on request.

This page is a plain-language description of how Love the Mitten and Key Realty relate to each other. It is not legal advice, and it does not replace the written agreements and disclosures used in an actual transaction.
